Lucena, Quezon:A Gift from the heart. Himig ko Handog ko 2019

It's the most wonderful time of the year! This year generous donors - friends, officemates and good hearted people whose hearts overflow with gratitude for their blessings - made this gift giving possible.

Acts 10:1-4 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!" Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.

I believe that these gifts have come up as memorial offering before God. May God bless us all as we remember his love for all mankind.

As disciples of Christ in the 21st century, we continue what disciples in the book of Acts have done, except healing and driving out demons of course.
(notes from the NTS APLA class 2019)
Acts 3:1-10
v8-10 Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

When people feel loved and cared for, it open doors to their hearts like what the man in the story in Acts expressed.

Do we show good deeds to get something in return?
-to feel good about ourselves?
-to have good reputation?

We glorify God by the good things we show. We can be channels of the love of God by showing we care.

I'm writing this to remember my experience and for those who are wondering how to go to the pool and spa area of Ace if you are checked-in at their hotel :) You don't need to worry about going to the elevator in your swim wear and towel because there is a dressing room and shower area at the spa's entrance in the ground floor. There is a strict swim wear code so make sure you have spandex swim wear, cycling shorts or swim trunks. I have brought my Speedo hydra suit which was originally my Auntie Ellen's. I wore that on Rhea's pool birthday party. I think that was in 1999 so, that makes it a 20 year old swim suit. I didn't really use it a lot, there were years when I didn't use it like in our trip to Calaguas.

Well anyway I wasn't the only one who had thought of riding the lift in my swim attire. I actually saw many people who have worn theirs and rode the elevator LOL. There were even kids tagging along their parents wet and dripping around the lobby, man what were they thinking? The dressing rooms were decent and just make sure that you are not drawing curtains because someone might be changing or showering! Like what the lady did, just drew my shower curtain, talk about using your eyes for vacant shower cubicles right? Show some ethics when you are there... please.

Quezon :Ouan's Farm Resort-2019 ICOC-Quezon Christmas Party

The Gift Series

Communion message by Rolly
Luke 3:3-6 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God's salvation.'"

Make straight paths
-prideful and high spirited life made low
-empty lives will be filled by Christ
There needs to be change, that's the only way we can prepare for the Lord

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

Proclaim the purpose of Jesus
-his death, burial and resurrection when we take Communion
-with commitment and all seriousness.

Realize that God has chosen us to prepare the way for the Lord.

Let us continue to live a righteous life.

Benevolence by Mike
Acts 20:34-35 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "

Quiet Times :December-Luke 4

While waiting for a very long time at the dentist's clinic I read Luke 4.(After having the check-up re-sched twice and going there thrice, I had to just wait it out because this is the only dental clinic that is accessible and I cannot prolong the agony of having a part of my cracked molar dangling, hanging in there.)

  1. Jesus' ministry - after being baptized in water and anointed by the Holy Spirit, then being tempted ¦tested in the desert, Jesus begins his public appearance! But he was without honor in his hometown because even though the people in the synagogue were amazed at him, they wanted to throw him off a cliff. The opposition arose when Jesus reminded them of the prior inclusion of the Jews in v26 and 27. (a new insight for me even after having read this passage many times in the past 17 years)
  2. The people also noted that Jesus was the son of Joseph. I have encountered this scripture and it was often contrasted to how Christians are somewhat not accepted in their circle as someone capable of changing, as for me someone that do not need to change at all - and so they thought. I had to totally get rid of my old self and I'm so glad God has redeemed me. Praise his name indeed!

My Life Begins 2019

2019 is when my life begins again.

Looking back at my life's time-line, it's been a series of events that I'm grateful God had orchestrated for me. It may be a life is absolutely not at par with human standards, not even close and I am glad.

My journey against getting rid of materialistic longing is not without many struggles. We need money to survive - pay the bills and buy food and other physical needs.

Matthew 6:31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

I have learned to value what I have and since I was a kid I have been taught by my mom not to waste anything, but make the most out of them.

I learned not to worry about what I wear - I can wear whatever I feel like wearing-although I still sometimes say "I don't have anything to wear!" My IG ecofriendlycatlady is where I document my OOTD.
I rarely buy clothes-probably just 2-3times a year for one clothing item. I usually buy not because I want to buy them but because a friend sells them and needs to earn.

I don't go shopping because I will just end up buying things I don't really need and that will just add to the clutter which I don't like. So far I have lived without a TV for several years now and I have learned to delay gratification in many ways. I have a very simple life with (near) Mt Banahaw in the view.

Mauban:House Visit September 2019

Ate Vilma and Kuya Lando are the disciples from Mauban that we visit about once in three months on a Saturday, and share the Bible with after lunch with their children and grandchildren.

House visits have been both challenging and faith building for me because there is really a need to encourage one another so that we will not forget about what God had done in our lives. I have seen many times in house visits, how easy it can be to forget about God especially when we are far away from the body and we cannot take Communion-a very important part of worship where we get to be reminded of Jesus' sacrifice, his body and blood poured out for us.

Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Teresa Dalahican: Outreach Program 2019

Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Matthew 18:3 And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Being childlike is different from being childish. Christians are called to have childlike obedience. It is important to becoming mature. Mature Christians are capable of giving and self denial. They can put others before themselves.

The childish are selfish and puts thelselves first. It will be hard to reach maturity with this kind of attitude.

This year, a kind hearted sponsor who wanted to help her relatives and their community, reached out to us to spearhead an outreach program.

We started with visiting the relatives and getting from them a list of beneficiaries, mainly children. We prepared a menu that will be catered by the relatives - the source of their income.

The games consisted of Corner Game, Paper and Stone, Hoola hoop and Animal Sound.

Lucena:Quezon Premier Hotel-ICOC Quezon 8th Anniversary

Sermon by Bong Aquino
Quezon Premier Pavillon

Acts 13:36-37 "Now when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed. But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Psalms 105:8 He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations,...

*We can be a blessing to our own generation by doing the will of God within it.

*Serve the purpose of God in your generation

Live in such a way that you make an impact

Fight to stay pure if you are to serve God

-resist the call of drunkenness

-resist the temptation of immorality

Fight for souls
-it is hard to fight family ties
-it is a salvation issue

Why God sent Jesus here is to save souls.

Regardless of what people say fight for souls
Don't allow the culture to mold you into its image

Friends - find out what God's will is for your life
Don't be afraid to find out what God wants for your life, it is for the better

1 Corinthians 15:20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Romans 8:10-11 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

1 Corinthians 6:14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.

2 Corinthians 4:14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself.

Since we are following Jesus - the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep

He is a trailblazer, first century disciples are not afraid of death

Thank you all for coming!

SMX Pasay:ICOC Philippines 30th Anniversary

I had the priveledge of attending the 30th anniversary of the ICOC Philippines!I was baptized June 30th of 2002, and this year I celebrated my 17th year as a disciple by God's grace.

Communion Message and Testimony by Father and Daughter Christian and Jao Segovia
John 17:9-13 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.

Benevolence msg. By Father and Son Danny Cabadsan
