Learning English

My goal in writing posts under this Label (Learning English),since I cannot make a separate Page for it, is to gather helpful online resources that:

A Evaluate
1.)evaluate the level of English of the students who want to continue practicing English
2.)diagnostics for those who are just beginning to learn English as their second language.
3.)tools to evaluate learning after taking a certain course.

Evaluation is very important. It can help in determining the level of understanding and the materials or methodologies that need to be employed to aid learning.I believe that it will also help to motivate the learner.

B Guide
1.Provide links, resources of helpful tips based on evaluation results

My Favorite sites for level tests are the following:

1.Exam English   Free Practice Tests for learners of English

You have two level tests options: the Grammar & vocabulary level test and Listening level test. After getting your result, you can check to see what grammar you should know at each level. It's very useful because you'll know what to focus on in your English lessons.

2. ABAEnglish.com - Your  online English course for real life

This is a great website for learning English in your own pace through video classes, short movies, exercises and pronunciation practice using their LRC (Listen ,record and compare) speech recognition technology. Registration is free but to get full access of their tools you have to upgrade to Premium subscription. I had tried the free lessons and it was great! I didn't hear my voice though, during the playback of my recording, but I didn't bother to look into it anymore.

Photo Essay:My First Fun Run

It's my first ever fun run and it was really fun though I felt really tired and I got achy arms and abdomen more than achy legs.It was organized by Raquel Pawnshop Inc. which is also new to this kind of event as it was their first as well.I didn't stay around for the rest of the program after the run because it was a Sunday and we had to prepare for the Worship Service.I wished I had returned though after I had prepared, because there were freebies and a raffle draw LOL.

Photo Essay:Happy Birthday at Hapee Wee

We went to Hapee Wee Dimsum House along Quezon Avenue after the worship service to celebrate Andrew's birthday. There were 20 of us and the crew thought that we were gonna do networking stuff, but he could have asked it the good way instead of sounding like he didn't want to accommodate us LOL. I'm not surprised with this kind of treatment to customers here in Lucena. After about 2 years of living here, I have encountered annoyed service crews from Buddy's Restaurant to smaller eateries, its like hospitality is not an innate nature of people here.Well maybe it's just me because I don't look like a wealthy person, but then again I'm also a customer and I pay for my orders.

journey to Pag-Ibig,Philhealth and SSS as Individual Payor/Voluntary Part II

https://www.sss.gov.ph/sss/Section_View

I just checked my SSS online account to check if my recent payment was added- it was!

I didn't realize that it was easy to switch from covered employee to voluntary member. The long lines and the sad looks from the people waiting in line outside of the old SSS office in Lucena, discouraged me to enter and inquire inside. When the office was transferred to Grand Terminal, I finally tried to brave the long lines and I was surprised that I didn't have to wait too long!"Manong guard" told me to go to the information personnel, who in turn gave me a piece of paper to fill out- SSS number and name. She comes back with information about my number of contributions and last contribution -which I don't really need LOL.We got a chance to ask questions, and I got answers to these inquiries:

1. What's my employer ID # so I can create an online account? -she promptly supplied that so I can now check my premiums online.

2.How can I switch from covered employee to voluntary member? -she told me to just get an RS-5 form (you can also download this from https://www.sss.gov.ph/sss/index2.jsp?secid=1&cat=8&pg=null) and pay the premium that I'd select, she said I can choose any amount from the list she gave me: P1560,P1404,P1248,P572,P468,P364.

You can make payments at the SSS office or participating banks and after that your status will automatically be updated!I paid my premium on the first week of June, and that payment was reflected on my account this July.So it takes a while for it to show up on your account but no worries.

Conversion Story 80 Years in the Making

Conversion Story 80 Years in the Making

A touching story of faithfulness and devotion to God and his Body-the church. It's awesome to hear about stories where God's work is so evident because people allow God to work in their lives.

Intex Envy will not boot up!

Well apparently my husband was watching movies on the tab while riding home in a bus and then the tab went kaput! It won't boot up.I suspect that the battery got drained and just refused to function. We tried to charge it but it still didn't work.We searched online and found a similar fix but to no avail, so we tried several button combinations to try to enter the recovery mode.We did that because we don't have the manual. So you can proceed at your own risk!

1.Push the Reset button with a sharp ended toothpick to turn off the tablet.
2.Remove your SD card so it won't get wiped out.
3.Hold down Menu+Power button for about 5 seconds,do it again if it goes back to the android logo.
4.If you are successful, you will see the options -select something like Recover/Wipe all data.Apparently you don't have any choice but to do it.Use the Volume buttons to scroll up and down.
5.Your Intex Envy will be reset to the factory defaults.
6.You can now install your other apps. and change settings that you like!

It actually worked better after the recovery and the tapping is more responsive than before.
